Vietnam launches the second domestic made high-speed missile boat

On April 2nd, 2013, the launching ceremony of the second domestic made high-speed Project 1241.8 Molniya held in Ba Son Shipyard in Hochiminh City. Previously, the first one was launched on March 3rd of 2013. In a very short time, two Vietnam-made missile boats were launched amazingly.

Project 1241.8 Molnya is a high-speed missile boat (NATO reporting name Tarantul ). The project has been modified and rearmed with modern missile systems like the Uran-E with 16 warheads.

The Uran-E (SS-N-25 'Switchblade) is also nicknamed Harpoonski for its similarity to the AGM-84 Boeing Harpoon. It is range of 130km designed to attack vessels up to 5000 tonnes. Specially, an upgrading version of the missile that Vietnam manufactured with Russian help reaching a range of 300km. (*)

  3. VN must look into anti-ship ballistic missiles as well to attack from high angle. Kilo submarines can neutralize chinese threat from Klub missles, fast attack boats can neutralize chinese from Uran-E and Bastion-P, Vietnam need a modified Iskander type anti-ship missile system.

    - Russia sought to export the Iskander-E to Vietnam in 2008, but then could not find more information.
