Vietnam’s army highly values ties with Russia

Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh said that Vietnam’s armed forces and people always treasure the friendship and cooperation with their Russian counterparts.

The official made the statement at a meeting with visiting Acting Chairman of the Military Science Committee of the Armed Forces of Russian Federation, Guzenco Oleg Borisovich, in Hanoi on May 22.

Khanh said the Russian official’s visit will help strengthen scientific research cooperation in various fields, thereby implementing bilateral agreements signed by high-ranking leaders of the two countries.

Through the Coordination Committee of the Russia-Vietnam Tropical Center, the bilateral cooperation in various fields, including tropical biomedicine, tropical endurance, and tropical ecology, has achieved good results.

In reply, the Russian official said his visit was aimed at facilitating both sides in reviewing the outcomes from the bilateral cooperation in the past time and working out orientations for future cooperation in several new fields, such as weapon maintenance, staff training, and health care for soldiers.

The official also praised scientific research findings resulted from cooperation between the Russia-Vietnam Tropical Center and the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as other agencies of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In related news, a plan for security cooperation between Vietnam and Russia was signed last month by Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (RFSS), General Bortnikov A.V.

The signing was made on April 2, when General Bortnikov led a high-ranking Russian delegation on a 3-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Minister Quang.

The two leaders agreed on measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation to protect national security of each country and contribute to keeping peace and security in the region and the world.
