The Vietnam-made 1241.8 Molniya corvette: Almaz introduces

Almaz recently introduced a video clip providing comprehensive information about the ships of project 1241.8 Molniya missile, also known as "lightning".

This is the class that Russian supports Vietnam to actively build itself.

Project 1242.1 and project 1241.8 Molniya ("Lightning") are further developments of the Tarantul family boats. The two projects has been modified and rearmed with modern missile systems like the Uran-E. The projects are maufactured by the Russian Vympel Shipyard. Russia received at least one boat for trials in the 1990s and in 1999 Vietnam orderd two vessels. Vietnam has also started its own production line of 1241.8 boats with the assistance of Almaz Central Design Bureau in St. Petersburg and has of 2011 four boats in construction. In 2009 Libya orderd 3 ships.

  1. Have you ever got tired of this? Vietnam has this weapon and that weapon! So what?

Vietnamese fishermen continue to be harassed and attacked by the fricken Chinese right inside Vietnam's waters. The latest incident Chinese patrol boats fired on the Vietnamese trawler boats. This story was published on Tien Phong website but was later taken it off a few hours later apparently from an order from the governement. Why did they do that? What do we the public know about the agreements Vietnamese government signed with the Chinese in marking bounderies over land and sea in the North. How much land and sea did we lose?

Don't be fooled by their propaganda. Never trust what they tell us.

  3. Do you think Vietnam can afford to go to war against China right now ?
Sure some fishermen have been harassed but can Vietnam put at risk all the benefits she has gained ? Anyway the West does not want Vietnam to jeopardize peace by responding agressively to chinese provocative steps. Whether you like it or not,China is big and Vietnam is small

    1. China is big and that is very obvious.,but it does not give China the rights to take what is not belong to them..China should learn to respect the maritime law of other country and not always telling to the whole world that China Sea belongs to them...
