Heavy fighting continues across Syria

23/12/2012- Videos posted on a social media website appear to show heavy bombardment in various parts of Syria, leaving a trail of destruction with no end in sight to the 21-month-long revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.

One of the videos, said to be filmed Friday in Daraya in the suburbs of the capital Damascus, purports to show a building taking a direct hit. Another video, said to be shot on the following day in Daraya, claims to show Syrian government tanks withdrawing during clashes with rebels.

In the central city of Homs, a fighter jet could be seen flying over the district of Jobar and anti-aircraft machine guns were heard. Elsewhere in Aleppo province, rebels appeared to be firing rockets at the Al Qoueires military airport in the town of Al Bab, in an attempt to take control.
