Japanese navy ships to visit Myanmar

Two training ships and a frigate of Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force plan to visit Myanmar in early October as part of a round-the-world voyage.

The vessels will depart from Japan late this month. They will call at a port near Yangon. About 700 MSDF members, including about 180 cadets, will be aboard the three vessels. The crew will take part in goodwill events and other activities with Myanmar's forces. The visit will be the first by MSDF vessels to Myanmar.
